Today in art we have been drawing each other in the style of our chosen artist, Keith Haring. In pairs with one partner posing we used 'ghost drawing' to draw the parts of the body in the right sizes and then we used a market pen to give the picture an outline and coloured it in by shading with a crayon. To finish it off we added lines to show movement and action.

Making numbers and matching numerals
This week in numeracy we have been looking at how to make numbers by partitioning tens and ones. We have also been matching numbers to number words and putting them in the right order.

3D shape creations
In numeracy today we have been making 3D shapes using straws and plasticine. There were some fantastic shapes created, including a square based pyramid!
We also went hunting to find 3D shapes in and around the school. We saw lots of cuboids and cylinders, some cones but pyramids seemed impossible to find!

Writing lists
This week we have been practising writing lists. As we have been learning about sound and hearing, we decided to list what we could hear. Some were able to split the list into loud and quiet sounds.
Sorting shapes
This week we have been looking at the properties of 2d and 3d shapes. Today, children took turns making 3d shapes out of play dough and sorting the shapes in a Venn diagram. The children used good vocabulary during these activities.

Keith Haring painting
This term we have been looking at art by Keith Haring and producing our own pictures in the same style. This afternoon we designed our own animal pictures and used paints to bring them to life. The children were great at making sure their picture filled the page.
Finding money totals
As part of 'Story Maths Week' we have been looking at three books all about maths. '10 beans', 'We all went on safari' and 'The great pet sale'. Today we read The Great Pet Sale and looked at ways of paying for some of the animals.

Poetry adventure competition
On Friday we thought up interesting ideas for an adventure poem. We still need to finish them off but they are looking fantastic so far. We'll be sending them off as part of a national competition and the prize, if we win, is £1000 for the school!
The blogging has started
Hopefully, we will now be able to blog on a regular basis to give a flavour of what goes on in class and, of course, show some of the amazing learning of the children.
Here are a few pictures of what we have been doing over the last couple of weeks.
Counting an ordering.
Measuring.
Ordering ourselves by height.
Ordering objects from heaviest to lightest.
