Shadow investigation

The sun stayed out just long enough this afternoon for us to go out and conduct our shadow investigation. We are looking to see if our shadows are always the same length. To find out if they change length we have chalked around and measured our shadows. We will repeat the test at different times next week (weather allowing) to see if there is any change.

Potato printing

Today we have been doing potato printing. We cut out shapes on potatoes and use them to create some colourful potato prints.

Dinosaurs 2014

Happy New Year!
It's been a great start to the term and there have been lots of changes in school. Class 1, as we are now called, have started our new topic of dinosaurs. This week we have been learning to make dinosaur finger paintings, to take scary close up photos of dinosaurs to make them look real and alive, writing new year resolutions, sorting words into alphabetical order, and making two and three digit numbers using arrow cards and an abacus.

Puppet nativity

KS1 were treated to a puppet show theatre today. The show told the story of the nativity, the true story of Christmas. The children listened very carefully and joined in with the songs.

Forest Schools

Today was the final session of forest schools for our class. There was a lot of rain and mud so we played some games in the field to warm up. the mud made getting to the upper field quite tricky but the children worked together to help each other get past the mud bank without falling over (too much). The children found the houses they had built for the 'little people' in the other sessions had been sneezed down by a dragon! They quickly set about making dragon traps and mini Christmas decorations for the little houses out of natural materials, with a quick break for a nice hot chocolate!
A big thank you to Joe for making the sessions so fun and exciting.

Nativity

The children were amazing at today's nativity performance! It was a delight to watch them perform.
Whilst on the subject of the nativity, the nativity scene the children created a couple of weeks ago is up in Alwington church and looks stunning.

IPads

Today the children have been using the new iPads in ICT. In literacy we have been looking at instructions and they were able to use their skills to give instructions to program a beebot to move around the screen using the beebot app.
